Does life seem overwhelming and stressful? Has getting out of bed become another daunting task? Or maybe you need a listening ear, someone to help navigate daily activities or help manage your emotions because they are too much to handle right now. Jo works with adolescents and adults. She provides a judgment-free environment filled with compassion grounded in knowledge. Jo meets clients where they are in life and collaborates with them to address their individual needs. She uses evidence-based approaches to therapy to manage negative thought patterns and discovers skills within oneself to thrive, find hope, and be the resilient person they are destined to be.
She does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach but that your best-lived life will probably look different from another’s life. She helps her clients embrace what is important to them, find their niche, and what they want out of life. She believes creating that desired life requires utilizing coping strategies, self-care, healthy thinking, and emotional regulation. Sometimes medication is included in this process. Other times medication is not needed, but when it is required, know that therapy only adds to the benefits of the medicine. Jo has previous experience working with issues such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationship struggles, self-esteem struggles, parent-child relational problems, racial issues, and struggles with sexuality and gender identity.
Jo grew up in New Orleans and relocated to the Jackson area in the fall of 2005. She graduated from Tougaloo College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Colorado Christian University with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
She offers a sliding scale fee for her services. If you are ready for the support she provides, give her a call today to schedule an appointment.
